James Dastrup Gessford, 77, of Grace, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, Idaho. He was born Aug. 7, 1929 in Provo, Utah to thomas Chenoworth and Irene Dastrup Gessford.
James attended college in Seattle in the architect field. He joined the Air Force where he was stationed in England during the Korean War. On June 17, 1990 he married Jacqueline Mayne in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He believed in the Christian Science beliefs. He was a member of the EAA- Experimental Aircraft Association. James owned a custom fiberglass company, MNK Enterprises in Bancroft, Idaho. He built everything from park benches to aircraft. He also built pony boats. he loved to ski in his younger years and almost made the Olympic team. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Grace; children, Michael Beach of Washington, Kim Gessford of Salt Lake City, UT, Nikki Beach of Sitka, Alaska; stepchildren, Greg Jensen of Wayan, ID, Lisa Rodrigues of Grace, ID, Jessie Bassett of Pocatello, ID, and adopted daughter, Sarah Devine of Grace, ID; sisters, Pat Chrysler of Morgan Hills, CA, Sara Spears of Renton, WA; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker funeral Home.
